New Delhi: A Russian woman in a viral video claimed that a passport control officer wrote his phone number on her ticket. She said that the officer asked her to call him the next time she comes to India.
Content creator Dinara posted an Instagram reel in which she claimed that a passport control officer at the Delhi airport wrote his phone number on her ticket.
“Arre yaar, what is this behaviour? Huh?” Dinara said.
“I’m shocked. Are you serious? The passport control officer at Delhi Airport wanted me to call him,” the text on the video reads.
“Was his behavior appropriate?” the content creator captioned the video.
The video has gone viral, garnering more than 29,000 views. While some netizens called the officer’s behaviour inappropriate, others defended the officer, suggesting that he may have shared his number out of courtesy.
One user said, “It’s inappropriate. The officer on duty should not behave like this for his personal reasons. Very unethical. Sorry you have to go through this.” Another wrote, “That’s really sick n unprofessional.”
A third user added, “Maybe he is trying to be courteous for any future help .. every situation has a different perspective. It’s just a mindset.” Yet another commented, “While it might be interpreted in several ways, I feel like a cultural thing in South east Asia to share or ask for phone no. I recently did a Canada to India road trip via Pakistan, and at-least 20 officers including high ranking officials both in Pakistan and India shared their number to call them in case I visit again. So again, it’s a cultural thing of being overly nice with Foreigners which is often misinterpreted as creepy behaviour.”
