Corrales and Lordsbridge Star are newcomers of note but the two with the most pressing claims are Aljezur and ROBERTO CARO. The former is better than he showed at Lingfield last week when backed into odds-on favouritism for a 1m handicap, only to pull too hard, but there was abundant promise in the selection’s debut effort at Windsor last summer. He’s drawn wide but so are most of the form candidates and Oisin Murphy will be alert to the situation.
Araifjan is one to consider now back off his last winning mark, as is C&D winner Miss Moonshine who comes into this off the back of a good effort at Lingfield, but preference is for SCRAMBLE who made it 20th-time lucky over C&D 11 days ago and may have more to offer now that she has broken her duck. Smasher and White Mist have been in cracking form at Wolverhampton since headgear went on and would be serious contenders if bringing that sort of form back to Polytrack.
This is a better race than the one Due Date bolted up in nine days ago but he still comes right into the reckoning. Diamondsinthesand, Diamond Dreamer and Phoenix Star are considered but PRINCESS NAOMI drops in trip and class today and might be worth chancing with Oisin Murphy on board.
Electric Avenue needs a look after her eyecatching finish over C&D last month, while Arctic Dawn can step up on his debut and Ribal ran creditably over this trip on his stable debut last week. Alhather looks the most solid contender now dropping to 6f but SEE YOU TONIGHT offered enough on her debut to think she could take a big step forward with the run behind her.
Four of these met in a good handicap at Lingfield last month, with Photosynthesis coming out on top. That was a messy race though and it would be no surprise were Fire Demon to reverse the placings this time. Either way, INFLUENCE is an interesting contender on his handicap debut, with new headgear and the return to 6f both looking potential sources of improvement.
Haziym appeals as the type to pop up soon, while Just A Spark has won her last five AW starts and Holy Fire is well suited by these conditions. The two against the field are Dubai Station, who is dropping in class and should find this being run to suit, and AL BAREZ. The selection is unexposed, has been gelded since last seen and can prove better suited by today’s return to 6f.
There may be more to come from King’s Vanity now making his handicap debut, while another big run from dual C&D winner Stately Home wouldn’t be a surprise. The longer trip should suit the unexposed Charencey, but the vote goes to KING’S CODE (nap) who has been successful in six of his last 13 starts and only seems to do just enough. A 3lb rise may not stop him.
This trip will be a new experience for all bar Rubio De Oro, though he may need more than when third at Wolverhampton last time. Dubawi Time is much respected up in trip with the form of his latest third working out so well, but it may be worth taking a chance with RUSSIAN BALLERINA. She has only shown limited ability so far, but the stable won this last year with a filly who had almost an identical profile.
