He’s now trying a step up in distance on just his third start over fences, of which his first two runs have seen him steadily climb the weights and becomes the top-weight in this field.
Beat Ree Okka on chase debut before coming second to Gold Cup Bailly two weeks later.
That winner has gone on to win again over fences, including 3m at Ayr and place a very close second to Thomas Darby, who’s now rated 150, for the same trainer and in the same colours as Doctor Ken.
Suggests there could be more to come from Doctor Ken on his handicap debut and his mark of 130 looks a great jumping off point.
Looks dangerous in this Class 3 having last been seen in the Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival 2022.
Makes a return over a year later and has some market support behind him for trainer Joe Tizzard under Brendan Powell who both would love a winner with this.
There’s clearly hope from this yard he has potential and this could be the start of the progression they’ve been hoping for, especially now rated 4lb lower than his first win at Taunton in January 2022.
