Brandon Stone to win 12.30pm threeball
1pt 7-4 Hills
Emphatic Hero Open favourite Ryan Fox is an early starter at Fairmont St Andrews, teeing off at 7.10am in the company of defending champion Grant Forrest and Sunday’s Cazoo Classic winner Richie Ramsay.
Brandon Stone is one of the class acts out in the afternoon and first-round threeball backers are advised to support the South African for his contest against JB Hansen and Andy Sullivan (12.30pm).
Stone is an underachiever – a sweet-swinger who claimed a couple of early European Tour victories in 2016 – and this could be the week he gets back among the silverware. His last success came in the Scottish Open on an easy links in a Rolex Series event in 2018 and he has the tools to destroy Fairmont St Andrews.
Having finished fifth in the European Open last month, Stone has found some confidence for an ideal assignment.
