This is Head Coach Tom Izzo’s 25th straight appearance in the NCAA tournament which is just an outstanding feat in itself. The Spartans come into this one as the underdog by two and a half points according to Bet365 Sportsbook. MSU comes into this one after a 10-point win in the first matchup against a solid USC team.
It was Joey Hauser who led the Spartans in scoring; he had 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Sparty is led by their veteran backcourt of Tyson Walker who, averaging 14 points per game, had 12 in the opener and A.J. Hoggard, who averages 12.5 points and six assists. Marquette dominated in their opening-round matchup against Vermont, taking care of business 78-61. They were led by Kam Jones who had 19 points in just 23 minutes. Oso Ighodaro also added 14 points and added five assists and five rebounds.
It is good to have head coach Shaka Smart back in the NCAA Tournament and the Golden Eagles are a very good team and deserve to be favored in this one. However, we are going to lean toward the veteran backcourt of MSU for our Michigan State vs. Marquette predictions and like them to pull off the upset in this one, covering the +2.5 spread.
These two teams are both very solid, which makes for an intriguing matchup ahead of our Michigan State vs. Marquette predictions. The Spartans rank in the top 50 in adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency in the nation heading into the NCAA tournament.

With both of these teams having very solid offenses that are rolling, we are going to take the over to hit in this one and that is set at 141. We also like the over to hit in the first half with each team getting their feet wet in the NCAA Tournament. The first-half total is set at 66.5
