There were victories for all three leading teams in the top division of the Bolton Cricket League on Saturday.
From 52-2 Westhoughton recovered to 271-5, with Marlon Welcome-Goodman hitting 124 in a 196-run partnership with Ayaz Tasawar who contributed 67. Pick of the bowlers was Matthew Ready with 4-63. Blackrod reached 112-2, with Ankit Lamba 73, but that was as good as it got as they were bowled out for 188, despite the last pair nearly denying Westhoughton a bonus point. Tasawar took 3-49 and Kamran Younas 3-44.
Another team making a slightly rocky start were Farnworth Social Circle, who were 88-6 at one stage, but Matthew Knight who made 94 put on over a hundred with Dave Tonge and 77 with Chris Barrow, the innings finishing on 281. Yasir Rashid took 4-63 for Astley Bridge who were then dismissed for 73, Ryan Ayres taking 5-7.
Simon Booth with 78 and Milinda Siriwardana with 73 guided Farnworth from 50-3 to 165, eventually ending on 270-9. Brett Pelser took 4-89 and Jack Berry 3-56. Horwich won by six wickets, James Enslin scoring a century and Pelser 63, the two of them putting on 91.
Saif Ur Rehman was Atherton’s top scorer with 44 out of their 200. Tonge’s leading bowlers were Chetan Bisht with 5-27 and Alex Rodzoch with 4-62. Rodzoch went on to score 76, putting Tonge in a strong position at 128-2 but Rehman’s 4-48 helped hold them to 188-9.
Akbar Ur Rehman had a good match for Lostock, taking 4-46 to help dismiss Little Lever for 151, then being one of two players to hit an unbeaten half century, the other being Daniel Vincent, as Lostock won by seven wickets.
Another team to win by seven wickets were Eagley as Josh Fallow’s 5-40 helped dismiss Kearsley for 163. Asif Hussain then struck 48 not out and Martin Eccles 41.
Tasib Raja made 54 in Little Hulton’s 195, Mo Jamal taking 3-26 and Junaid Farooq 3-51. Jamal then hit a half century and Asim Bhatti 47 as Walkden strolled to a nine wicket victory.
On Sunday Longridge from the Northern beat Leigh, and will play Ormskirk in the Lancs KO final.
