WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) – Kentuckians got their first chance at placing bets on the Super Bowl.
The Super Bowl is widely considered the biggest sports betting event of the year, and Kentucky was able to take part for the first time, five months after sports betting became legal in Kentucky.
“Kentucky is finally able to join Tennessee and Indiana and Ohio, other states that are able to do this,” The Mint Gaming Hall Marketing Manger, Shannon Taylor said. “I feel like we are finally going to get a piece of the pie here and it’s been an economic positive for our community and the state.”
“It’s great because as a kid I would always say ‘oh I think they’re going to win I think they’re going to win,’” sports bettor and Mint Gaming Hall employee, Bryson Waters said. “It’s cool to now I can put my money where my mouth is. You know what I mean.”
Taylor said the legalization of sports betting has been brought in a lot of business.
“We have steadily been very busy and increasing,” Taylor said. “Sports betting is an asset we have here.”
