A body has been found in a creek beside a busy Westfield shopping centre in Brisbane as police declare a crime scene.
The body was pulled from Downfall Creek along Murphy Road, near a Westfield shopping centre at Chermside, at about 11:30am on Thursday morning.
Construction workers at a building site beside the creek were seen speaking with police at the scene, the Courier Mail reports.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said they believed it was a man.
‘A member of the public called it in to us,’ she said.
‘The area has now been declared a crime scene.’

Images from the scene show a team of firefighters in lifejackets standing beside the creek as well as plain-clothed detectives and paramedics.
‘Police have declared a crime scene after a man’s body was located at a creek in Chermside this morning,’ a police spokesperson said.
‘Emergency services were called to a location near Gympie Road Exit and Murphy Road shortly after 10am.
‘Investigations into the circumstance are underway.’
Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area.
