No. 3 The Wild Grazer (5-2) shipped from Ireland to California and graduated in a turf sprint at Del Mar last fall. She won again at 6 1/2 furlongs on turf in her next start and stretched out and missed by a neck in the Lady of Shamrock Stakes on Feb. 12. She adds blinkers, jockey Juan Hernandez stays put, and she might get first run.
No. 6 Princess Bettina (5-1) stretched out and switched to turf at this course and distance in October, and she rallied nicely for the win that day. She landed the show behind Pride of the Nile in her next start and turned back and ran out of ground at 6 1/2 furlongs Jan. 8. She stretched back out and picked up a minor award in the Lady of Shamrock last time. Jockey Frankie Dettori is her new pilot, and she should be finishing in her third start after a layoff.
No. 7 Comanche Country (8-5) shipped from Ireland, graduated in a turf route at Del Mar last summer and clicked right back in the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf and Surfer Girl Stakes. She split a 14-horse field from the inside post when last seen in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Jockey Umberto Rispoli strings along, and this is a good starting point for her sophomore campaign. Â
No. 1 Paris Secret (5-1) won her turf route bow in Ireland on heavy ground last fall. Trainer Phil D’Amato has her now, and she has been working steadily at Santa Anita since late January.Â
No. 5 Tea N Conversation (5-1) switches to jockey John Velazquez, and he wins races with trainer Michael McCarthy. The Candy Ride filly completed the Superfecta in her last two local, flat-mile stakes starts. She looked good in her flat mile maiden win at Del Mar late last year and might prefer that turf course.
