We have expert betting tips for the cards this Sunday at Scone and Yarra Valley.
There is plenty of value available with bookmakers at the Sunday meetings and we have our best bets across the two cards.
#5 – Rimbaud @ $2.90
It could pay to take note of an Annabel Neasham-trained runner that cost $650,000 racing at Scone.
The two-year-old colt by Lope de Vega comes off a trial win at Rosehill, and although his odds are drifting, we’re putting him on top.
He could have too much pace for them over this distance.
#5 – Rising @ $2.60
Rising is a three-time winner from seven starts, including a win at Ballarat last time out.
Victorian form should be solid enough for racing at Scone, and he could hit the ground running in a fresh state.
We think $2.60 is a generous quote.
#7 – Acotango @ $8.50
Acotango was too good for them at Tamworth last time out and he could be good enough to rise through the grades.
The three-year-old son of Spieth has done all his racing at Tamworth, so this is something new, but he looks good enough to handle it.
Punters get value odds considering the risk.
#4 – Talbragar @ $5.50
Talbragar owns four wins from five starts, so despite drawing barrier 18, we must put him on top.
The five-year-old son of Snitzel won at Tamworth by 1.5 lengths last start and paid $1.70, so punters get much better odds this time around.
He’s hard to leave out despite needing luck.
#3 – Signal @ $3
Signal is getting close to breaking through after posting two second placings this preparation, so we’re happy with stick with him.
The four-year-old son of Danerich has been backed and beaten before, but we think he’s worth another bet.
$3 is about the best price punters will get against this level of opposition.
#4 – Skinny Dip @ $2.80
Skinny Dip looked good when winning two starts back and he wasn’t disgraced when finishing third last time out.
The son of Sacred Falls has been around the mark throughout his career, hence the support with bookmakers for Sunday’s race.
We don’t see too much in the way of opposition.
#8 – Drop the Verse @ $2.40
Drop the Verse has much more upside than many of these runners, and despite failing last start, dropping in grade helps.
The three-year-old filly by Merchant Navy looked good when winning fresh up last preparation, so anything close to that is good enough.
The $2.40 could firm to around $1.90 on race day.
#1 – Hard Questions @ $4.60
Hard Questions has turned the corner this preparation with consecutive wins, so he’s worth following.
The four-year-old son of Contributer has to carry the top weight of 61.5kg, but he deserves it.
We’re not leaving him out of our calculations, especially at the odds.
