The Brisbane Summer Carnival heads to Eagle Farm this Saturday, headlined by The Gateway (1400m), with the winner getting ballot exemption for the Stradbroke next year. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out a metre for the entire circuit.

5 The Drover (Bet Now:
$SP.00) has been up a while but is holding his form really well. Far too good for them two back at the Sunny Coast before going there again three weeks back where he fought hard but was nabbed late by Ucalledit. Reckon he’s a big track horse, and hard to knock the way he’s going.
Danger
6 Argyle Lane (Bet Now:
$SP.00) is a sharp looking galloper for Joshua King that I think will eat up 1300m. Month between runs when going to 1100m at Toowoomba where he looked a moral on paper and despite doing work out wide early, he took the front and he spanked his rivals. 1300m looks ideal and I think he’ll love getting to a bigger track.
Long Shot
10 Bold And Lucy (Bet Now:
$SP.00) looks hard to beat for Garnett Taylor. This mare won a Heat of this Series on the home deck at the Sunny Coast just under two weeks ago, launching late from near last on the turn to produce a strong finale and score. Reckon she’s better on wet ground than on top of it but will be strong late.

I think you have to believe what you saw with 13 Latakia (Bet Now:
$SP.00). The debut win over 1200m at Doomben, to the eye, was the win of a Group horse, and the clock backed up the eye. She sizzled from the front and did it eased down late, so for mine, 1400m is no issue, down in the weights…think she’ll be winning again given she has the brilliance factor.
Danger
6 Chayse N Artie (Bet Now:
$SP.00) is getting towards D-Day for Les Kelly but I think he gets a really good set up here. Not suited by the race shape fresh behind Northern Express at Doomben before going to the Gold Coast where he got back in the run and took a while to wind into his work but was solid late behind the in form Storm The Fortress. 1400m on the bigger track, hard fit now and will be strong late.
Long Shot
1 Tyresa (Bet Now:
$SP.00) is a track/distance Stakes winner so she has to be respected. She resumed a fortnight back behind Storm The Fortress at the Gold Coast and I thought she was warming to the task nicely late in the piece, beaten just under three lengths. Might want one more, but she has the class/quality.

Team Snowden rarely get it wrong when it comes to going on the road with juveniles so with that in mind, I am going with their colt here in 5 Godfather (Bet Now: $2.20). He’s had a couple of trials in Sydney, the first one coming at the official 2YO trials in September. He then had a break and trialled a couple of weeks ago at Canterbury where I thought he moved very well under J Mac. This race looks thin so happy to be in her corner.
Danger
2 Torque I Tee (Bet Now: $8.00) has the race day form to command respect. He is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Doomben where he sat up outside Skirt The Law and tried hard, but was simply no match for that brilliant filly, who sits second to King’s Gambit IMO as the best juvenile so far this season. That form has to read well for this.
Long Shot
1 Risky Investment… (Bet Now: $12.00) less said about last Wednesday the better. All I’ll say is I am amazed the stewards ticked off on him being given a fair start. The debut win here was very good and I think if he brings that effort here, he’s certainly in with a shout and a win wouldn’t shock at all.

Back Me
2 Empress Of Wonder (Bet Now:
$SP.00) clearly on top for me. Annabel Neasham trained filly that has only had one career outing, which came at Flemington on Oaks Day and I thought she was very good in defeat from the back, being raw and new to the caper behind Charm Stone in second. Loved her work in a trial win at Canterbury and I just think she has a bit on these.
Danger
5 Malaboom (Bet Now:
$SP.00) is a horse I am respecting. I thought she trialled up really well prior to the debut in the Ballarat Magic Millions where she was on the wrong leg throughout and didn’t handle the track at all. Maps to get a suck run off the speed and if she runs up to the trial, she can threaten for sure.
Long Shot
4 Bertinelli (Bet Now:
$SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give a bold sight. Trials were solid enough prior to debuting two weeks back at the Gold Coast where she attempted to lead throughout and credit to her, she gave a solid kick but just lacked the killer punch when third to Mighty. Back to 1000m I like and jump/run is a good set up for this track.

Back Me
6 Logan Street Lion (Bet Now:
$SP.00) deserves another chance. On face value, he was plain three weeks ago at the Sunny Coast but when you break down teh splits, he had no chance and was actually pretty good in defeat behind Ucalledit. Think with a more genuine tempo here, he can bounce back into the winners list.
Danger
5 Irish Playboy (Bet Now:
$SP.00) has done a good job since joining John Smerdon. Loved the way he found the line late to win two back at Doomben before going to the Gold Coast a fortnight back where he tried his guts out to get past Akihiro but that horse had too good of a run on speed and had enough in hand to get the win, just. He’ll be strong late Irish Playboy and is in form.
Long Shot
8 Command King (Bet Now:
$SP.00) can run well. He was suited by the sit/sprint set up two weeks back at the Gold Coast, getting the suck run behind the slow speed before angling clear and looming to win but 1700m just found him out, running a narrow third. Like him back to the mile and is a definite winning chance.

Back Me
1300m is on the upper limit for 1 Juan Diva (Bet Now: $2.45), but to help offset that, she has gate one and just finds a nothing race. Ran two weeks ago in the Tatts Classic where she was hailed as the winner when Orman elt her down but was no match late for Me Me Lagarde. Run of the race from gate one and IMO is the straight bat option.
Danger
6 Better Get Set (Bet Now: $5.50) is a mare in form and a mare in form is deserving of a crack at blacktype. She has won her past two, winning over 1200m here two back before going to the Sunny Coast where she got a cheap run on speed and found plenty when required to get the job done. Has placed at the trip previously and she does tend to save her best for this track.
Long Shot
1300m is the absolute limit for 3 Centrefire (Bet Now: $8.50) but she has the class/quality to carry her a long way towards victory. She resumed three weeks ago in the Swiss Ace at the Sunny Coast in what looked more or less a prep run, finishing down the track behind Le Palmier. Fitter, back to Mares grade, she’ll only run well, especially if she gets a soft time of it on speed.
* Above offers may only be available to select customers.
Back Me
6 Je Suis Belle (Bet Now: $4.20) to bounce back. Like most, I was keen on her three weeks ago at the Sunny Coast in the Swiss Ace but two things brought her undone. First, Ryan Maloney was stood down and couldn’t ride, and was replaced by Larry Cassidy. And second, she was ridden far too warm and couldn’t finish the race off. Ridden cold, come with one run, confident she can finish over the top.
Danger
4 Le Palmier (Bet Now: $7.50) is an absolute beauty for Tony Gollan. He was there to be beaten and run down in the Swiss Ace, but he found under Jim Byrne and was strong to the line in winning. He’s a 1000m specialist, he’ll land near the front and he’s tough. Plenty to like about his chances in what is a winnable Stakes race.
Long Shot
9 Alpine Edge (Bet Now: $11.00) is a very interesting runner. Four year old for Team Edmonds that resumes after a frustrating Winter prep where he was trying to get a start in the Stradbroke but couldn’t quite measure up in lead ups. I think he’s best suited as a sprinter, and his two trial wins indicate he’s being trained as a sprinter.
* Above offers may only be available to select customers.
Back Me
11 Thalassophile (Bet Now: $16.00) for me in a pretty even race. On the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Rosehill and while Frumos was the ugly watch, if you backed Thalassophile, it was ugly for her too. Return run at Newcastle was strong and the depth is a bit on the thin side. She’ll do me each way.
Danger
1 Loch Eagle (Bet Now: $13.00), I think, is going well. Forgive in the Silver Eagle and couldn’t get a start in the Golden Eagle. Good in defeat at Newcastle on Hunter Day before going to Rosehill where he got a mile back in the Festival and was solid against the pattern behind Dajraan. He’s a good horse I think and his best is good enough to prove hard to beat.
Long Shot
10 Canadian Dancer (Bet Now: $8.50) is a definite winning chance. Resumed a fortnight back in the Tatts Classic and really liked the way she warmed to the task in the straight despite never being a winning threat behind Me Me Lagarde. Might want one more, but she has the quality to take this out.
* Above offers may only be available to select customers.
Back Me
12 Palladas (Bet Now:
$SP.00) is such an enigma and very hard to follow/trust, but gee this race is thin. He resumes for Tony Gollan, having not raced since July 30 here when wide for the trip and just felt the pinch late behind Love Tap. Not a noted fresh but liked his recent trial and the depth here is just non existent.
Danger
If 10 Kingston’s Here (Bet Now:
$SP.00) can run up to his first up effort, he’ll take beating here. First run for Staurt Kendrick came at the Sunny Coast where he was unlucky not to win, getting held up at a vital stage before eventually getting clear and just missing out on picking up Dragon Miss. His form from when trained by the O’Dea/Hoysted camp reads very well for this.
Long Shot
9 Grey Defence (Bet Now:
$SP.00) is hit and miss but his best can see him be around the mark. Market wanted him with confidence a few weeks back at Doomben with the wet track and he tried hard, but was no match late for Proper Rogue. Firmer footing a negative, but has run well at the track/distance before and has a good racing style.
